Dutch came out to pummel the Spanish . spent to much energy doing this instead of trying to score. Webb was not strict enough with the Dutch, scared to give out a 2nd yellow on there violent play, 9 yellows to Spains 5, with a Red for Holland. and 28 fouls to Spains 19. nothing to be proud off here.

Holland were very cynical, not nice to see.

Spain deserved it.

Germany and Holland both feared Spain and it showed. Iniesta best player in the world and it showed.

The best team won. The Dutch were f****** boring - AND destructive! - to watch. A poor final because only one of the two teams tried to play offensively. It's games like this that makes me think football is a ridiculous game. There ought to be rules against playing too defensively.

Yeah was a woeful game, I wanted the Dutch to win but they were pretty awful. Spain weren't blameless either, but the boys in orange really were an embarrassment at times. I felt sorry for Webb, he obviously didn't want to ruin the game by sending people off early and was trying to be lenient, but the Dutch were just begging to be sent off it seemed. Don't know what they were thinking really. Crap game, crap tournament. Hopefully 2014 will be better.

Webb is pretty much blameless the Dutch Thugs (used to be an oxymoron but no longer th_wink-1.gif) ruined it. Pity it could have been a good game if they had tried to play. Quite enjoyed the tournament overall.

Van Bommel was even money in the bookies to get a card, easy pickings if you had the readies to back it

Until last month, saying you were Dutch always triggered: Oooh, Dutch, Nice! Johan Cruyff, Van Basten, Bergkamp, Nice!

Now: Dutch? Van Bommel: scum! You all scum!

that will pass too... cool.gif

Both World Cup finalists, Netherlands and Spain, have been fined by FIFA for their behaviour in the showpiece match on July 11.

Spain eventually won the game 1-0, after referee Howard Webb dished out a record 14 cards to both sides in a bad-tempered affair.

FIFA revealed that the Dutch federation must pay 15,000 Swiss francs ($14,480) after eight different players received yellow cards, and defender John Heitinga was booked a second time and sent off.

Spain face a 10,000 Swiss francs ($9,650) fine after picking up five yellow cards.

FIFA's disciplinary code calls for any federation to be fined when at least five of its players are carded in a match.
